World records set at Nathan's annual hot dog eating contest
Joey Chestnut and Miki Sudo still reign supreme
It's good to know that with all the disruption COVID-19 has brought to the Fourth of July celebrations this year, something hasn't changed.
Joey Chestnut and Miki Sudo still reign supreme when it comes to the Nathan's Famous Hot Dog-Eating Contest, which took place in Coney Island, N.Y.
Chestnut, 36, wolfed down a world record 75 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes to win the Mustard Yellow Belt for the 13th time in 14 years. His total topped his own record of 74, set in 2018, and marks his 1,000 career dog.
Sudo, 34, finished with 48 1/2 hot dogs. That figure broke the record for the most hot dogs eaten during the women’s event. Sudo’s previous personal record was 41 hot dogs.
The winners received $10,000 dollars and prize money.
The 2020 Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest took place for the first time in an indoor arena without any fans to witness the live event.
