Younger son of Martin Luther King Jr. dies of cancer at 62

The younger son of Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King, Dexter Scott King, died Monday from prostrate cancer. He was 62.
The announcement was made by the King Center in Atlanta. The group said King died at his California home after battling the cancer, according to the Associated Press.
King was serving as the King Center’s chairman at the time of his death.
He was named for the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Alabama where his father once served as pastor and was 7 years old when his father was assassinated in 1968, the wire service also reports.
