President Donald Trump on Wednesday published a series of letters to other nations informing their leaders that he would impose tariffs on them due to longstanding trade deficits with those countries.

Among the recipients were the leaders of Sri Lanka, Libya, Iraq, Algeria, Moldova, Brunei, and the Philippines. Each largely highlighted that the U.S. sought to continue its trade relationship with those nations, but lamented that "[o]ur relationship has been, unfortunately, far from Reciprocal."

Trump further informed each country that, should they decide to raise their own tariff rates in response to the ones Trump imposed, he would add the same amount to his existing rates.

"This Deficit is a major threat to our Economy and, indeed, our National Security!" he insisted in each.

His Wednesday letters follow earlier correspondence with other nations that he sent this week.
