Family pit bulls maul two Tennessee infants to death, mother in hospital: Report

Authorities in Tennessee say that two young children near Memphis were killed by the family's pit bull dogs this week, with the animals also putting the mother into the hospital in "critical condition." 

The attack, first reported by the Daily Mail, reportedly occurred on Wednesday of this week. Five-month-old Hollace Dean Bennard and two-year-old Lily Jane Bennard died after injuries sustained from the pit bull attack, the paper said. 

The children's mother, Kirstie, was allegedly injured by the dogs while trying to save her son and daughter. Father and husband Colby was reportedly unharmed. 

The animals are now residing with animal control following the attack, sources told the paper. 

The tragedy occurred in Millingdon, just outside of Memphis.
