At least 50 people injured after Los Angeles train collides with bus
At least 55 people were injured in downtown Los Angeles, where two of the people are considered seriously injured, and 16 others were transported to a hospital in fair condition.
At least 55 people were injured in downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday, after a metro train collided with a shuttle bus from the University of Southern California.
Two of the people are considered seriously injured, and 16 others were transported to a hospital in fair condition, the Associated Press reported. Another 37 people were treated on site.
The crash occurred near the Los Angeles Natural History museum and the USC campus. The train was transporting 150 passengers to downtown Santa Monica at the time, and the bus, which crashed into the train, was transporting the driver and a single passenger. The driver and passenger are the most severely injured, according to officials with the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The cause of the crash is not currently known, but the cause will be investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.
“Metro offers its sympathy to those injured in the accident,” Metro spokesperson Dave Sotero told the Associated Press.
Metro said its train services would be limited and that buses will be used to get people to and from the crash site.
