Trump says ABC, NBC should lose their broadcast licenses for not providing live coverage of speech
CNN, ABC and NBC decided not to provide live coverage of the speech. ABC and NBC aired Trump's speech on their streaming channels.
President Donald Trump said that NBC and ABC should lose their broadcast licenses for not having live coverage of his primetime speech on Thursday.
CNN, ABC and NBC decided not to provide live coverage of the speech. Others, such as CBS and Fox News, chose to broadcast part of the speech live, and ABC and NBC aired Trump's speech on their streaming channels, Politico reported. Trump accused NBC and ABC of covering up what he said was election fraud.
“In a rare move, NBC and ABC fake news have both said that they would not cover this speech. They knew what it was about. Fraud like this should mean a revocation of their licenses," Trump said.
The Federal Communications Commission is limited in its authority to revoke the licenses of broadcast networks, which are protected by the Communications Act’s restrictions on how the FCC reviews licenses and by the First Amendment.
