Donald Trump criticizes Joe Biden's cognitive fitness: 'It has little to do with his age'
"President Biden is one of the oldest 79s in History, but by and of itself, he is not an old man," Trump wrote.
Former President Donald Trump on Sunday slammed President Joe Biden's cognitive fitness, one day after a New York Times article stated that the president's age may pose a difficulty if he attempts to seek reelection.
Trump, 76, said that for Biden, who is more than three years his senior, age is not the problem.
"President Biden is one of the oldest 79s in History, but by and of itself, he is not an old man," the former president wrote on his platform Truth Social. "There are many people in their 80s, and even 90s, that are as good and sharp as ever. Biden is not one of them, but it has little to do with his age. In actuality, life begins at 80!"
The former president's comments on age come as rumors have been swirling for months that he will launch his reelection campaign for 2024. Numerous polls have shown Trump with an edge over Biden in a hypothetical rematch.
President Biden is already the oldest president ever, and he will be 81 if he runs for reelection in 2024. He has been plagued by questions about his cognitive fitness since before he entered office, but recently concerns have grown. For example, at the end of last month, Biden accidentally displayed an official White House card giving him detailed instructions such as "YOU take YOUR seat."
