Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich calls Trump's McDonald's campaign stop 'genius'

Former GOP House Speaker Newt Gingrich called GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump's campaign stop at McDonald's a "genius" campaign move.
"He's a genius at this sort of thing," Gingrich said on the "John Solomon Reports" podcast. "The press never understood what 13 years of The Apprentice meant in terms of Trump's understanding of television and of audiences."
Over the weekend, Trump had a temporary "employment" at a Pennsylvania McDonald's that was organized locally. He worked the drive-thru and fryer on Sunday at a franchise in Bucks County.
"One, he drove home the reminder that Kamala couldn't prove she'd ever work for McDonald's, and second, he likes doing this," Gingrich said.
McDonald's emerged as a talking point on the campaign trail recently, after Vice President Kamala Harris claimed that she used to work for the company one summer, when she was a college student in 1983.
The company said it does not have a record of employees from the early 1980s, and Trump has accused Harris of lying about her employment.
