Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene announced via social media that she will be going to New York next week to protest the indictment of former President Donald Trump.

"I'm going to New York on Tuesday," Greene wrote on Twitter. "We MUST protest the unconstitutional WITCH HUNT!"

A Manhattan grand jury voted to indict former President Donald Trump earlier this week over his alleged role in a payment to Stormy Daniels in 2016, making him the first former president to face criminal charges.

Over the past few days, many of Trump's allies have expressed their support for him and have argued that this indictment was politically motivated.

"New York, put your MAGA hats on," Greene wrote in another tweet. "Under our constitutional rights, we WILL support President Trump and protest the tyrants. I'll see you on Tuesday."

Other GOP leaders who have spoken out in support of Trump on this matter include Colorado GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert and former Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake, as well as other candidates and potential candidates for the GOP 2024 presidential nomination including Nikki Haley, Mike Pence, Vivek Ramaswamy and Ron DeSantis.

The Trump team announced in a press release that the former president had "raised over $4 million in the 24 hours following Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's unprecedented political persecution of the President, and blatant interference in the 2024 election against the leading Republican presidential candidate."
