Trump sends prayers to Florida and North Carolina, blasts Biden over hurricane response

Former President Donald Trump on Wednesday sent his prayers to the people in Florida and North Carolina who have been devastated by hurricanes in recent weeks, and took a shot at President Joe Biden's federal response to the storms.

Hurricane Milton is expected to make landfall in Tampa later Wednesday evening, as a Category 3 storm with sustained wind speed of up to 120 mph. The storm comes after Hurricane Helene trampled the Southeast United States as a Category 4 hurricane two weeks ago, and killed at least 200 people.

The former president lashed out at the Biden administration during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, over its alleged failure in providing a robust response to Hurricane Helene.

"Before we begin, I want to send our prayers to the people of Florida getting hit just about now," Trump told a crowd in Reading, Pennsylvania. "In a little while you're going to see a hurricane like we haven't seen in a long time, as well as all of the people still recovering from Hurricane Helene. So we have North Carolina. It's been hit very hard, and this administration has not done a proper job at all.

"Nobody's seen anything like it, but we just pray for everybody," Trump continued. "We want them all to be good, and we're going to be there hopefully soon, and we're going to help them rebuild and get it all back together. And we hope that God will keep them safe."

The comment comes after Biden slammed Trump for spreading alleged "misinformation" regarding Hurricane Helene. Biden accused Republicans of pushing claims that people's properties were being being confiscated in North Carolina, or that money for disaster relief is going to illegal immigrants instead.

"Former President Trump has led the onslaught of lies," Biden said in an address. "It's beyond ridiculous. It's got to stop. Moments like this, there are no red or blue states, there's one United States of America, where neighbors are helping neighbors, volunteers and first responders are risking everything, including their own lives, to help their fellow Americans."
