Former President Donald Trump's campaign says it has raised more than $4 million since the New York grand jury indicted him on Thursday.

Trump's team stated that at least one contribution had come from every single state in America within five hours of the indictment.

Trump's email sent to his supporters, according to the Daily Mail, read: "This is the battle I willingly signed up for when I decided to take on the entire Washington Machine as a political outsider 8 years ago, and be YOUR voice."

The numbers won't be able to be verified until April 15 when the campaign has to file its first quarter report.

A campaign official told NBC News that it has received 16,000 volunteer sign-ups since the indictment was announced on Thursday.

A Manhattan grand jury voted to indict former President Trump over his alleged role in a payment to Stormy Daniels in 2016, making him the first former president to face criminal charges.

Over the past few days, many of Trump's allies have expressed their support for him and have argued that this indictment was politically motivated.
