Former President Donald Trump, in his first interview after being arraigned Thursday evening in Georgia in connection with a criminal, election-interference case, described the arrest and arraignment as a “sad experience."

“It's a very sad experience, and it's a very sad day for our country,” Trump said Thursday night on Newsmax.

He also suggested the recent series of charges against him in several cases – including the most recent one in Georgia's Fulton County – were crafted by the “radical left” and "absolutely in coordination with the Justice Department.”

Trump's arrest Thursday, in which authorities also took a mugshot of him, marked the fourth time he has been indicted this year, this time over allegations he and his team conspired to overturn election results in Georgia in 2020.
