Former President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he plans on hosting a rally in Wilmington, North Carolina in support of Rep. Ted Budd, who is the state's Republican nominee for U.S. Senate.

The Sept. 23 event will feature other Trump-endorsed North Carolina candidates, plus entertainment and concessions will be available throughout the entire day before the former president speaks in the evening.

Trump endorsed Rep. Budd in June 2021 after his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, declined to run for the seat.

Budd is set to face Democrat Cheri Beasley, the first black woman to serve as the North Carolina Supreme Court chief justice, this fall.
