Trump: 'I would absolutely' have Peter Navarro in admin if reelected
"This outrageous behavior by the Democrats should not have happened," Former President Donald Trump said of Peter Navarro's conviction.
Former President Donald Trump said he "would absolutely have" Peter Navarro back in his administration if reelected, as the former White House adviser sits in federal prison.
Navarro is currently serving a four-month prison sentence that ends July 17 for not complying with a subpoena from the now-defunct House Jan. 6 committee.
Trump told The Wall Street Journal in a statement, “I would absolutely have Peter back. This outrageous behavior by the Democrats should not have happened.”
Navarro has said that he doesn't want Trump to pardon him if the former president is reelected. He has requested the Supreme Court release him from prison while he challenges his conviction. However, the court denied his request.
“I will not give the Supreme Court any excuse to duck what is otherwise a landmark constitutional case regarding the separation of power and executive privilege,” Navarro wrote in an email from prison to the Journal.
He added that he has “no regrets” because he “didn’t choose this fight, this fight chose me.”
Earlier this month, Donald Trump Jr. visited Navarro in prison and said he was in "good spirits."
