Trump on running in 2024: 'I've already made that decision'
"Nothing factors in anymore," says Republican former president.
Former President Donald Trump this week gave the strongest indicator yet that he plans to mount another attempt at the White House in 2024, telling one reporter that he has already made up his mind on whether or not he will run for the presidency again that year.
Speaking to Olivia Nuzzi at Vanity Fair, Trump told the journalist: “I feel very confident that, if I decide to run [in 2024], I’ll win.”
Pressed on his potential decision for that year, Trump responded: “Well, in my own mind, I’ve already made that decision, so nothing factors in anymore. In my own mind, I’ve already made that decision."
The former president indicated that the only thing he had left to decide was whether he began his campaign "before or after" the midterm elections.
Trump following his departure from the White House in 2021 indicated that he was not done with politics yet, though the possibility of his running again has been up in the air since then.
In recent months he has given more and more overt indications that he intends another try at the White House in 2024, such as last month when he expressed confidence that he would beat Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in a 2024 primary matchup.
