GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump said Saturday during a rally in Wilmington, North Carolina, that he would end sanctuary cities in America if elected president.
“Today, I am announcing a new plan to end all sanctuary cities in North Carolina and all across our country,” he said during the rally, according to the New York Post.
He said that he would use law enforcement if those operating the sanctuary cities did not cooperate.
“I will ask Congress to pass a law outlawing sanctuary cities nationwide, and we will bring down the full weight of the federal government on any jurisdiction that refuses to cooperate with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Customs and Border Patrol," he continued.
“As soon as I take office I will surge federal law enforcement to every city that is failing, which is a lot of them, to turn over criminal aliens, and we will hunt down and capture every single gang member, drug dealer, rapist, murderer and migrant criminal that is being illegally harbored,”
Trump spoke to a crowd of about 10,000 at the Aero Center Wilmington at the Wilmington Airport.
This was his first outdoor rally since Sep. 15, the day there was an apparent second assassination attempt planned to take him out.
