Former President Donald Trump says he and Club for Growth are "back in love" after the powerful conservative organization mended relations with the former president ahead of the 2024 election.

Trump spoke Friday at the Club for Growth's annual economic retreat in Palm Beach, Fla., the organization said

"Now we’re back in love; we’re in deep, deep love," Trump said during his speech, according to the Washington Examiner

The organization, which spends tens of millions of dollars supporting conservative candidates in elections, had been close with the former president during his time in the Oval Office, but their relationship was strained during the 2022 midterm elections. At that time, Club for Growth President David McIntosh did not agree with Trump on several races. The relationship further soured when an association affiliated with the club spent millions attempting to challenge Trump's third presidential bid.

During his speech, Trump mentioned races that "broke us up for about a year," and said, "Every once in a while, we have an argument. It’s always about who to endorse."

Following Trump's speech, McIntosh said: "The fact is, Club for Growth PAC and President Trump have accomplished a lot working together. From tax reform to deregulation, President Trump unleashed prosperity for all Americans."

McIntosh also said that President Joe Biden is making "things worse," including crime, education and the economy.

"This is the most important election of our time. It’s time for Republicans to unite and put our differences aside. We need to work together to make sure Biden is a one term president," he said.
