Trump says his administration will be great for women's 'reproductive rights'
Trump says he supports the Supreme Court overturning Roe V. Wade and that the federal government should stay out of the issue.
GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump said Friday that if elected his administration would be good for women's reproductive rights.
"My Administration will be great for women and their reproductive rights," he wrote on TRUTH Social.
Abortion has been a top issue on which Democrats are campaigning in the 2024 elections.
During her presidential nomination acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention, Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday said that Trump and other Republicans were "out of their minds" on abortion.
Harris had been on a tour titled “Fight for Reproductive Freedoms," where she visited swing states like Michigan and Wisconsin.
The Supreme Court overturned the historic ruling in June of 2022, which ended a federal ban on abortion and returned the topic to individual states.
Trump has been partially credited for the ruling, because several of the justices were appointed to the highest court during his administration.
He said he supports the higher court's decision but believes the federal government should have nothing to do with the issue.
