President Trump delivered remarks at Mack Trucks in the swing state of Pennsylvania on Tuesday, touting the recent “historic peace agreement” with Iran and his economic policies.

Trump’s visit to Macungie, a borough in the state's Lehigh Valley region, is his first major public event outside the nation's capital since signing the interim deal to end the United States' war with Iran. This is also the president’s fifth visit in his second term to Pennsylvania, whose support in 2016 and 2024 helped him win the presidential elections.

“We have just achieved a historic peace agreement with Iran to end the conflict in the Strait of Hormuz,” said Trump, noting that 19 million barrels of oil had flowed through the strait after the memorandum of understanding was signed. He also pointed to recent stock market gains, which he attributed to the drop in oil prices as a result of the memorandum, with the average price of gas nationwide down 60 cents a gallon from its peak.

Trump said that “99%” of the reason for becoming involved in the Iran war was so that “Iran will never have a nuclear weapon.” He also said the war has left the Middle East country without nuclear or missile capabilities, although he said that this would not be obvious from “fake news.”

During his speech, Trump also touted the strength of the U.S. economy, saying that “American exports to the rest of the world are up by 150 billion dollars,” after a period of prior losses. He alsos said many countries were investing in the U.S. and that in total, investment had been “19.1 trillion in 12 months.” In comparison, he said that under previous Democratic President Joe Biden, the U.S. had received under 1 trillion in investment.

On the job front, Trump said Pennsylvania alone has added 2,600 manufacturing jobs over the past few months and 32,000 overall new jobs. However, he did not give a time frame for the latter. Nokia has also invested $30 million for semiconductor testing and packaging operations in nearby Allentown.

Trump’s speech also coincides with the 125th anniversary of building Mack Trucks.

Pat McHugh, a Marine Corps veteran and long-time Mack Trucks employee, welcomed the president at the rally and said that Mack Trucks was “home to the finest trucks in America, built by the most skilled and dedicated workers of the trucking industry.”

Meanwhile, Trump highlighted how he had ended Biden’s electric vehicle mandate during his first week in office, which he claimed forced a reliance on electric vehicles, with "many of them built in China," which if allowed to continue would have decimated American companies like Mack Trucks.

During the event, Trump also referred to the U.S. Senate elections that are going on in Maine.

“This country has become very strange politically, especially with all the communists that are up for election,” said Trump, referring to Graham Platner, a progressive Democrat who recently won the primary election, warning that candidates like him would impose tax hikes that would damage the economy.
