Trump 'would consider' Jamie Dimon for Treasury secretary

Former President Donald Trump this week suggested he was open to selecting JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon as secretary of the Treasury.
"He is somebody that I would consider," he told Bloomberg in a recent interview. Dimon last year indicated some openness to serving in a cabinet role or seeking office.
"Obviously, it's crossed my mind because people mention things to you and stuff like that. I love my country and maybe one day I'll serve my country in one capacity or another, but I love what I do," he said at the time.

His consideration of Powell comes amid mounting speculation of who will flesh out Trump's cabinet after he named Ohio GOP Sen. J.D. Vance as his running mate. Trump's last Treasury secretary, Steve Mnuchin, served with little incident, though his future plans in the administration remain unclear.
During the interview, he also indicated he would permit Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell to finish his term, saying "I would let him serve it out... especially if I thought he was doing the right thing."
Trump has previously criticized Powell over his handling of interest rate hikes. In August of last year, he told Fox Business's Larry Kudlow that "I would not reappoint him. I thought he was always late, whether it was good or bad, but he was always late."
