Truth Social joins Google Play Store: 'Milestone in our mission to restore free speech'

Shares of Digital World Acquisition Corp, the company seeking to take Truth Social public, rose Thursday after the app for former President Donald Trump's social media platform was added to the Google Play Store.

"It’s been a pleasure to work with Google, and we’re glad they helped us to finally bring Truth Social to all Americans, regardless of what device they use. Today marks a significant milestone in our mission to restore free speech online," Trump Media & Technology Group CEO Devin Nunes told Just the News.

Shares of the company rose over 20% shortly after the market opened on Thursday, per Google Finance.

Google told Trump Media in August that the app committed "several violations of standard policies," including insufficiently moderating content. 

Trump's company at the time said it had "continuously worked in good faith with Google to ensure that the Truth Social Android App complies with Google's policies without compromising our promise to be a haven for free speech."
