U.S. to close border with Canada to 'non-essential traffic,' Trump tweets

The border will close temporarily as both countries try to limit the spread of the coronavirus

The U.S. border with Canada will be temporarily closed to non-essential traffic, President Trump tweeted Wednesday morning.

Each country is working to blunt the impact of the rapid spread of the coronavirus.

The president’s tweet implied that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, whose wife recently tested positive for the coronavirus, had agreed to the border restrictions as well.
