British Prime Minster Johnson said doctors were prepared for his death in coronavirus stay
Johnson's girlfriend was weeks away from giving birth during ordeal
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson gave a lengthy newspaper interview this past weekend about his severe case of the coronavirus, suggesting doctors and were prepared for his death.
“They had a strategy to deal with a ‘death of Stalin’-type scenario,” Johnson told The Sun. "I was not in particularly brilliant shape, and I was aware there were contingency plans in place. … The doctors had all sorts of arrangements for what to do if things went badly wrong.”
He also told the newspaper that doctors gave him “litres and litres of oxygen” to keep him alive.
The 55-year-old Johnson was taken last month to St Thomas’ Hospital after quarantining for the virus and his symptoms worsened.
Johnson, who’s girlfriend was just weeks away from giving birth to their child during the ordeal, reportedly had significant problems breathing as a result of the virus.
“The bad moment came when it was 50-50 whether they were going to have to put a tube down my windpipe,” he said in the interview.
