CDC: More than 50% of adults in U.S. have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine

More than half of adults in the U.S. have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The CDC reports that 50.4% of the U.S. population ages 18 and older have received at least one vaccine dose, while 32.5% of adults in the U.S. have been fully vaccinated.

While the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines require two shots, the Johnson & Johnson vaccine only requires one dose. The CDC and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on April 13 recommended a pause in administering the Johnson & Johnson vaccine due to reports of several people suffering a blood clot after receiving the vaccination.

Data compiled by Johns Hopkins University indicates that there have been more than 567,000 coronavirus deaths in the U.S. and more than 3 million worldwide.
