Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt tests positive for coronavirus
The governor maintains that the state has more than enough hospital beds and medical equipment available to treat virus patients without shutting down again
Oklahoma GOP Gov. Kevin Stitt said Wednesday that has tested positive for the coronavirus.
Stitt made the announcement on a Zoom call one day after his state recorded a record numbers of the virus cases.
"I feel fine," he said. "I was pretty shocked that I was the first governor to get it."
Stitt says he was surprised when his test came back positive Tuesday, and that he has experienced no symptoms beyond some slight aches.
The governor maintains that there is still "plenty of runway" in terms of hospital bed and equipment availability in Oklahoma.
Stitt and state health Commissioner Lance Fry each told reporters that President Trump's rally in Tulsa on June 20, could not have been the source of the governor's positive test result because it took place too long ago to have been Stitt's exposure point.
