COVID-19 is surging across the United States and beyond, with experts saying the current variant of the virus is the most transmissible of the pandemic to date.
However, public health authorities have indicated the surge doesn't pose a significant threat of overwhelming U.S. hospitals.
Across the country, life has largely gone back to normal for millions of Americans, but vestiges of the pandemic remain, such as mask-wearing. Some people still avoid crowded areas indoors.
