Teachers union head Randi Weingarten ridiculed for error-ridden tweet against DeSantis
"DeSantis has made Florida so terrible everybody’s moving there," one user said.
American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten was ridiculed for an error-ridden tweet she posted criticizing Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis.
"DeSantis should be fixated on the cost of living issues in Fla- housing is unaffordable, home insurance even worse, but instead he is exanding gun access, defunding, public schools, & banning everything he dislikes-teachers, journalists & the vulnerable," Weingarten, a former high school teacher whose union boasts 1.7 million members, wrote Sunday.
Florida Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera reposted Weingarten's tweet with the caption, "My teachers always called me out for not proof reading my spelling and grammar and they were right in doing so. Below is from the president of the national teacher’s union."
"Blunt Force Truth" podcast host Mark Young noted how Weingarten disabled replies, leaving commenters to only "quote tweet" in response.
"Notice how this brave public servant disables the ability to [reply] to her tweets? She knows it is all lies and doesn’t want to be challenged," he tweeted.
One Twitter user pointed out how Weingarten's home state of New York is more expensive to live in than Florida.
"Lady you live in New York City and dare to gripe at #DeSantis in #Florida about cost of living ? A salary of $70,000 in Jacksonville, Fla must increase to $125,287 in New York City," the user said.
"DeSantis has made Florida so terrible everybody’s moving there," another user said.
Weingarten went viral online earlier this month after she yelled outside of the Supreme Court in support of President Joe Biden's student loan forgiveness plan.
