Texas universities have cut or changed hundreds of jobs in response to the Texas ban on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) offices, top officials from several colleges revealed on Tuesday.

University of Texas Systems Chancellor James Milliken said that the institution's campuses had cut about 300 full- and part-time positions and roughly 600 programs "related to diversity, equity and inclusion training," according to a report from the Associated Press.

Milliken's comments were part of a hearing at the Texas state Capitol about compliance with the DEI law that Republican Gov. Greg Abbott signed last year.

According to the AP, Texas is among roughly "one-third of states" that have limited or prohibited DEI programs.
