Former President Donald Trump will visit later in March to deliver a speech outlining education policy for a prospective second administration.

Trump will deliver his "America First Education Policy" address in Davenport on March 13, The Hill reported. Trump's event comes shortly after an planned Iowa appearance by Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis whom many see as a potential rival to Trump. DeSantis, for his part, has made headlines over his own education policies involving restrictions on teaching Critical Race Theory and certain sexual topics.

Trump announced his leadership team for the critical primary state last month, the outlet noted. The Iowa primary contest is the first on the Republican calendar and presidential candidates often visit the state well ahead of time, hoping to ensure a strong showing.

The move comes as Trump's campaign appears to be gaining steam over both his prospective and declared rivals. Recent surveys have increasingly shown the former president ahead by double digits over DeSantis, who has not yet announced his candidacy. Thus far, only Trump, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, and tech mogul Vivek Ramaswamy have officially announced their campaigns on the Republican side.
