Anti-Israel protester disrupts first day of Democratic National Convention
Whether the incident occurred at either of the two main convention venues was unclear as of Monday afternoon
A masked anti-Israel protester on Monday reportedly crashed a welcoming party for the Democratic National Committee convention in Chicago.
"One-hundred-and-fifty-thousand people. You are funding a genocide," the protester shouted into a microphone after she grabbed it from a stage before being escorted away, a video posted by foxnews.com on social media appears to show.
The protester was apparently referring to the civilian death toll in Gaza, in the 10-month-long war in the region between Israel and Palestinian-backed Hamas. A significant part of the Democratic Party, it's most progressive wing, supports the Palestinians over Israel in the conflict
It's unclear whether the incident occurred at either of the two main convention venues – the United Center, which will host speeches and other events in the evening, or the McCormick Place, which will host official party business and meetings during the day.
