Biden projected to lose American Samoa to entrepreneur Jason Palmer

Prior to Super Tuesday, Biden won every Democratic nominating contest.

President Joe Biden is projected to lose the Democratic caucus in American Samoa on Tuesday, marking an unexpected loss to a largely unknown businessman and a blemish on what has otherwise been a clean sweep for the president in party nominating contests.

Decision Desk HQ called the race for Jason Palmer, The Hill reported. The election projector confirmed the results with the Democratic Party of American Samoa.

Prior to Super Tuesday, Biden won every Democratic nominating contest and has thus far claimed every Super Tuesday state that has seen the Associated Press project a winner.

The result is not expected to adversely impact Biden's prospects of securing the party nomination as the U.S. territory sends only 11 delegates to the Democratic National Convention and the contest is not winner-take-all.
