Former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden appear headed towards a showdown in November as both rack up wins across the country. A repeat of the matchup from 2020 has long been expected in 2024 and Super Tuesday results have reinforced those expectations.

A litany of states are holding either primary elections or caucuses on Tuesday evening as part of the Super Tuesday contests that could effectively seal the status of former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden as the Republican and Democratic presumptive nominees.

Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, and Virginia are holding Republican contests. All except Alaska are also holding Democratic primaries while American Samoa is holding a Democratic caucus.

Collectively, the states hold considerable sway in determining the party nominees in light of their total delegates in the tally.
