Biden's campaign hires former Kinzinger staffer to spearhead Republican outreach

Kinzinger was a very-well known Trump critic when he was in office.

President Joe Biden's re-election campaign hired a staffer of former Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., to help with voter outreach for Republicans who are not sold on presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump.

The campaign hired former Kinzinger chief of staff Austin Weatherford to reach out to voters who don't support the 45th president, according to The Hill. Kinzinger was a prominent Trump critic when he was in office and voted to impeach the former president.

Biden has sought to win over moderate voters and in April launched an ad seeking to woo Nikki Haley supporters disillusioned with the GOP nominee.

A Trump-aligned PAC, meanwhile, recently announced it would be spending $100 million in advertising in swing states such as Georgia and Pennsylvania.

Both Trump and Biden need votes from independents and moderates for the 2024 presidential election.
