Jenner lays out conservative platform in bid to become next California governor

Republican Caitlyn Jenner sought Wednesday night to burnish her conservative credentials in her bid to become California's next governor, vowing to make support for law enforcement and U.S. border security top priorities. 

"I am all for the wall," Jenner, a transgender person and gold medal Olympian, told Fox News host Sean Hannity about the U.S.-Mexico border wall. "I would secure the wall. We can't have a state, we can't have a country without a secure wall."

Jenner is poised to run for governor ahead of recently-approved ballot initiative on Democratic Gov. Gavin Newson that will ask voters whether he should be recalled and who would they vote for if Newsom is recalled. 

A successful petition drive, based largely on voter dissatisfaction with Newsom's handling of the coronavirus pandemic, got the question on a ballot, perhaps as soon as November. 

"We need these people and they do a wonderful job," Jenner said Wednesday about those who protect and serve Americans across the country. She also described herself as "pro-law enforcement," "pro-border protection" and "pro-ICE."

Jenner announced her candidacy late last month and has already railed about career politicians having ruined the American and California dreams.

On her campaign website, Jenner has vowed to veto any tax hikes: "When I’m governor, I’ll veto any tax increase. Period," Jenner says on the site.
