Republican presidential candidate and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said he regrets avoiding the media during the first few months of his campaign.

DeSantis expressed this regret during a radio interview with conservative host Hugh Hewitt on Thursday.

“What errors did you make that you’re willing to say: I shouldn’t have done this, but I’m going to correct it going forward and I’m going to do well in March,” Hewitt asked DeSantis, according to The Hill.

“I came in not really doing as much media,” he responded. “I should have just been blanketing. I should have gone on all the corporate shows. I should have gone on everything. I started doing that as we got into the end of the summer, and we did it. But we had an opportunity, I think, to come out of the gate and do that and reach a much broader folk.”

DeSantis came in second place in the Iowa caucus behind former President Donald Trump. Former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley came in third.

As of now, DeSantis is the only candidate who has agreed to partake in the ABC News/WMUR debate in New Hampshire, as both Haley and Trump said they wouldn't.

"I won’t snub New Hampshire voters like both Nikki Haley and Donald Trump, and plan to honor my commitments," he wrote on the social media platform, X. I look forward to debating two empty podiums in the Granite State this week."
