Founder of the Trafalgar Group Robert Cahaly explains how the issue of abortion will impact individual states in the midterms, especially with the overturning of Roe vs. Wade.

"I really believe that the ruling (Roe vs. Wade) was not as negative as the reaction to the ruling with some places moving fast to get rid of all abortions, and therefore minimizing the support," Cahaly explained on the John Solomon Reports podcast.

Cahaly explained that Republicans have to be strategic with the issue of abortion and realize that trying to eliminate it right away will do more harm than good.

"If your goal is really to limit abortion, then moving so fast that you lose elections and lose your ability to make those laws that limit abortion, you really aren't helping limit abortion," Cahaly continued. Pushing too hard and too fast didn't serve the left well in 2020."

An example of abortion affecting state elections is the state of Kansas where voters rejected an amendment to the Kansas Constitution that did not recognize abortion as a constitutional right.

According to statistics gathered by the Trafalgar Group, 50% of Americans are okay with abortion in the early stages, specifically before a heartbeat is detected.

Cahaly explained that certain issues such as gas prices are really going to drive Americans to the polls and vote in favor of Republicans.

"What people pay at pump is the most immediate thing people feel," Cahaly said in regard to the midterms. "Gas prices are the ultimate trigger."
