Jane Fonda tells overseas voters Trump would 'jail' people who protest his policies if elected

Hollywood actor and liberal activist Jane Fonda on Thursday tried to warn Americans who are stationed or living overseas that former President Donald Trump would "jail" people who protest against his policies if elected president in November.
The comment occurred during an event for the Democratic group "Democrats Abroad," which helps keep Democratic voters living overseas informed on key policy issues during election years, and helps them register to vote. Roughly three million Americans currently live and vote overseas, according to the Federal Voting Assistance Program.
"If you are young out there abroad, you're going to want to vote so that you have a livable future. And you're going to want to vote so that you have a voice in a democracy," Fonda said, per Fox News. "With a Harris ticket, you will have a voice, if you want something to happen, or you want something to not happen, you can lobby. You can protest, demonstrate, you can do all kinds of things."
"The Orange Man will not let that happen," she continued. "He puts the people who don't agree with him in jail, and he said he's going to make their lives miserable."

Fonda also argued that Trump would lead the country in the "wrong direction" by ignoring climate change.
"The world cannot afford another four years of not paying attention to the climate crisis," Fonda said. "It's going to be too late to solve this existential crisis."
Trump has not outright called for imprisoning everyone who protests against him. But he has backed the possibility of jail time for people who burn the American flag, and for those who topple or destroy statues during protests. Trump has also floated the idea of locking up his political opponents, after he was convicted in a hush money case earlier this year.
