New Jersey first lady Tammy Murphy, the wife of Gov. Phil Murphy, on Wednesday officially launched her campaign to challenge embattled Sen. Robert Menendez in the state's Democrat primary.

Menendez faces federal charges of fraud, bribery and acting as an unregistered foreign agent in an alleged plot use his official position to benefit several businessmen and the government of Egypt in exchange for gifts and money.

He has pleaded not guilty and has refused to comply with calls from within his political party to resign.

The three-term senator has also not said whether he'll seek 2024 reelection.

"Right now, Washington is filled with too many people more interested in getting rich or getting on camera than getting things done for you," Murphy said in a campaign launch video as footage of D.C. politicians, including Menendez, flash on the screen.

In addition to the state's first lady, other New Jersey Democratic Senate primary candidates include Rep. Andy Kim, real estate investor Kyle Jasey and community organizer Larry Hamm.
