With new super PAC, 'former Trump supporters' band together to help Joe Biden 'heal America'
The Democratic candidate will 'mend America's soul,' they argue
A group of "former Trump supporters" have banded together to create a nominally Republican super PAC meant to propel Joe Biden to the White House in 2020, an effort the group says will help to "heal America."
The Right Side PAC, which claims to be "harnessing the power of former Trump supporters to help Joe Biden win and heal America," argues that "frustration caused by the many failures of the Trump presidency has created a growing number of disaffected Republican voters."
The Trump administration's "failed response to the COVID-19 pandemic," as well as the administration's "fanning the flames of hatred" throughout the country, have also contributed to that disaffection, the group argues.
"Republicans who want to do the right thing will need to be communicated with on a personal level as to why Joe Biden is the man who can mend America’s soul," the group also says. "In the minds of Republican voters, we must make him more than simply the 'lesser of two evils'."
The group's website is thus far sparse. Former Ohio Republican Chairman Matt Borges is reportedly the group's founder; ex-Trump affiliate and noted Trump critic Anthony Scaramucci is also involved in the effort.
The PAC "intends to rely heavily on major donors," Axios reported on Wednesday.
