Obama urges black males to drop their 'excuses' and vote for Democratic presidential nominee Harris
Obama is the country's first black president
Former Democratic President Barack Obama is telling fellow black males to drop their "excuses" for not wanting to vote for party presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris.
Obama, the first black U.S. president, made the comment at a campaign rally Thursday in Philadelphia, at an event for black voters, according to The Guardian newspaper.
“We have not yet seen the same kinds of energy and turnout in all quarters of our neighborhoods and communities as we saw when I was running," Obama said, in a comment directed at black males. "Now, I also want to say that that seems to be more pronounced with the brothers,” Obama said. “You’re coming up with all kinds of reasons and excuses. I’ve got a problem with that."
A polls from the NAACP showed that over one quarter of black men under 50 say they will vote for GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, also according to the Guardian.
“Part of it makes me think that, well, you just aren’t feeling the idea of having a woman as president, and you’re coming up with other alternatives and reasons for that," Obama also said.
