Only 28% of Americans think country on right track one month until Election Day: Polling data
"Simply put, it would be historically unprecedented" if Harris wins, says a CNN analyst. "There is no historical precedent for the White House party winning another term when just 28% of the country thinks that we're on the right track."
A CNN analyst said it's a "bad sign" for Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee, that just 28% of Americans think the country is on the right track one month before the general election takes place.
"Simply put, it would be historically unprecedented," if Harris wins, said CNN analyst Harry Enten on Friday during a live segment about the poll.
"There is no historical precedent for the White House party winning another term when just 28% of the country thinks that we're on the right track," he added.
According to RealClearPolitics polling data, 61% of voters think the U.S. is headed in the wrong direction and only 28% believe it is going in the right direction.
Harris has tried to distance herself on the campaign trail from the most controversial parts of Biden's record, such as his border policies, while focusing on what she views are the accomplishments.
Despite Biden dropping out of the race in July and staying in office, Enten said Harris is the incumbent candidate as the sitting vice president and the latest polling data is not a good sign for her.
During a news conference, a journalist asked President Biden on Friday how involved Harris has been in responding to crises such as the dockworkers strike, the Iranian attack on Israel and Hurricane Helene.
"I'm in constant contact with her," Biden said. "We're singing from the same song sheet."
He also said that "her staff is interlocked with mine."
