Several Republican strategists and President Trump are criticizing a Missouri poll associated with Eric Schmitt’s U.S. Senate campaign that they say undercuts the former president’s support in the state to bolster the state attorney general’s election bid.

The poll by Remington Research Group, a political firm associated with Schmitt’s top consultant Jeff Roe, shows  Trump leading the 2024 presidential primary field at 42 percent.

However, several GOP strategists told Breitbart News, support for Trump in Missouri is much closer to 70% or higher in Missouri.

The poll also found Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at 18%, Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley at 6% and other candidates combining for 17% with 17% undecided.

The strategists also told Breitbart that the poll, conducted July 27 -28 among 818 likely Missouri voters, that DeSantis is more likely than not in single digits.

"Wow, great dishonesty in politics," Trump tweeted Sunday on his social media platform Truth. "Too bad!"

A national Republican operative who advises candidates in Missouri and Florida told Breitbart: "This is a completely fake poll commissioned by the RINO establishment who are looking to move on from President Trump," "There is no way Missouri, a deep Trump state, would ever vote for someone like Ron DeSantis. President Trump is dominating the state and every other state in the country."
