President Biden doesn’t dismiss debate with Trump: ‘It depends on his behavior’
“It is important, for the Good of our Country, that Joe Biden and I Debate Issues that are so vital to America, and the American People,” said former President Donald Trump.
President Joe Biden didn’t dismiss the idea of having a debate with former President Donald Trump before the general election, saying the decision will be made based on the GOP presidential candidate’s behavior.
“It depends on his behavior,” Biden said Friday when asked whether he will commit to debating against Trump, according to The Hill.
The former president skipped all the GOP presidential debates and is the remaining top Republican contender for the White House. This week, he called on Biden to debate him.
“It is important, for the Good of our Country, that Joe Biden and I Debate Issues that are so vital to America, and the American People,” Trump posted on Truth Social Wednesday evening. “Therefore, I am calling for Debates, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, ANYPLACE! The Debates can be run by the Corrupt DNC, or their Subsidiary, the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD). I look forward to receiving a response. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
Prior to Biden’s State of the Union address on Thursday, his campaign dismissed Trump’s debate challenge, claiming the former president was just “thirsty for attention,” according to the outlet.
During Biden’s speech, he attacked Trump on abortion, immigration, Russia, gun control, and COVID-19. Trump was live posting his responses to Biden’s address on Truth Social, countering the president’s claims on Ukraine, NATO, and the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
In an MSNBC interview clip released Friday, Vice President Kamala Harris said she hadn’t talked to Biden about debating Trump, and that it’s “a choice that is gonna be decided upon soon, and we’ll keep you posted.”
