BREAKING: President Obama will endorse Joe Biden today

Former President Barack Obama will on Tuesday officially endorse his vice president of two terms and fellow Democrat Joe Biden for president, according to news reports.

The announcement will be made on a video message, according to CNN. 

Obama's official endorsement comes after Sen. Bernie Sanders dropped out of the presidential race last week and endorsed Biden on a livestream Monday.

One recurring question throughout Biden's primary campaign was why the man he served beside for  eight years had not endorsed him publicly. Obama said he did not want to interfere with the primary competition, a message which Biden supported at the time.
