Ramaswamy says protesters rammed campaign vehicle at Iowa stop
Police dispute Ramaswamy claim protesters intentionally rammed their car into his campaign vehicle, saying there is 'no evidence' of such
Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy says protesters rammed a campaign vehicle Thursday after they had a discussion with him at an Iowa campaign stop over the war in Ukraine.
Ramaswamy said he had a "civil exchange" with protesters in the city of Grinnell, but after the interaction two of them drove their car into one of his, according to the website The Blaze.
Police disputed Ramaswamy’s claims, saying that there was “no evidence” that the people who hit the vehicle were involved in the protest or that they intentionally rammed their car into a parked campaign vehicle, according to TheDailyWire.com.
Photos on social media showed the damage to the car.
Ramaswamy reportedly was not in the car at the time of the collision and he was unhurt.
A video on social media showed a group of protesters in a heated debate with Ramaswamy about his position about the Ukraine war, but the poster said the protesters who rammed into the candidate were a different couple, The Blaze also reports.
"Had a civil exchange with protestors today, right before two of them then got into their car & rammed it into ours," Ramaswamy said on the social media platform X. "Those two should be held accountable, but the rest of the peaceful protestors shouldn’t be tarred by the behavior of two bad actors."
