GOP rep. calls for third-party investigation of Wisconsin duplicate ballots
"At this point is, let's bring in a third party investigation," Rep. Tom Tiffany said.
Congressman Tom Tiffany, R-Wis., on Thursday called for a third-party investigation into the duplicate ballots that mistakenly went out to voters in Wisconsin.
Originally it was reported that 2,215 duplicate ballots went out to voters, but Tiffany said that it is even bigger than that now.
"A news story came out from a television station in Madison saying that there may be up to 2,000 ballots, but it's confined to a single ward," he said on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show.
He said that the city clerk announced that they had it under control and Tiffany sent a letter to their office requesting more information.
"It turns out things are different than what they were saying," Tiffany said. "First of all, it's not just 2,000 ballots. It's more than that. It's not one ward. It's 10 wards that this is going on. They said in their original release, there's a unique barcode on the ballots, so they'll be able to tell and make sure nobody votes duplicate. Well, the barcode is on the envelope."
He said that the story keeps "shifting" and there needs to be an investigation.
"At this point, let's bring in a third-party investigation," Tiffany said. "Let's have a neutral arbiter come in here and investigate this and make sure only one ballot is cast for these over 2,000 ballots that were put out in duplicate form."
