South Carolina Democratic Rep. says he is behind VP Harris for president if Biden 'ain’t there'
Clyburn made a baseball reference in his interview and said Biden had “two more swings,” at future debates.
Congressman Jim Clyburn, D-S.C., said that he will throw his support behind Vice President Kamala Harris if President Joe Biden doesn't end up as the Democratic nominee.
“I’m a Biden-Harris person, so I’m not getting away from that," Clyburn said in an interview with USA Today. "I’m for Biden-Harris. I’m going to be for Biden if Harris ain’t there and I’m going to be for Harris if Biden ain’t there."
Biden and presumptive GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump faced off in the first presidential debate hosted by CNN.
Many Democrats, including Clyburn, admitted that Biden performed poorly at the debate. Some Democrats have suggested potentially swapping Biden out with another candidate, but the White House has said Biden will be staying in the race.

The next presidential debate is scheduled to be hosted by ABC News in September.
