State Republicans working to remove Joe Biden from ballot after Colorado effort to oust Trump
"Democrats' insane justification to remove Trump can just as easily be applied to Joe Biden," the lawmakers said.
Republican lawmakers in Georgia, Arizona and Pennsylvania are working to remove President Joe Biden from the 2024 presidential election ballot in their states after the Colorado Supreme Court ruled that Trump could be eliminated from the state ballot.
While the Colorado Supreme Court ruled that the Fourteenth Amendment's "insurrection" clause bars Trump from the ballot, the lawmakers are arguing that the same justification can be used to remove Biden from the ballot due to the crisis at the southern border and his family's alleged corrupt business dealings.
"The absurdity of radical Democrat judges removing Donald Trump from the ballot in Colorado will be a stain on the American political system for decades. By their very own interpretation of the law, Joe Biden is 100% not eligible to run for political office," the lawmakers told Breitbart News on Friday.
"Democrats' insane justification to remove Trump can just as easily be applied to Joe Biden for his 'insurrection' at the southern border and his alleged corrupt family business dealings with China."
The Republican lawmakers who are introducing the three bills are Rep. Aaron Bernstine of Pennsylvania, Rep. Charlice Byrd of Georgia and Rep. Cory McGarr of Arizona.
While Georgia has a Republican governor and a GOP-controlled state legislature, any bill to remove Biden from the ballot is likely to face extreme difficulties in Arizona and Pennsylvania, where both states have Democratic governors.
Trump, meanwhile, has vowed to appeal the Colorado court's ruling to the U.S. Supreme Court.
