Top Trump campaign staffers get shuffled around after disappointing Tulsa rally

The Trump reelection campaign has "reassigned" a top staffer responsible for organizing rallies, following the June 20 event in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in which the the arena was only partially filled.

Michael Glassner, who has been a Trump campaign fixture since 2015, will now reportedly be focusing on legal matters for the campaign, which include several high-profile suits against major media outlets. 

Jeff DeWit, the Trump 2016 campaign's Arizona chairman, will assume the role of chief operating officer of the campaign in the final months leading up to the election. DeWit is a longtime ally of presidential adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner; the two have reportedly been in conversation about the staff change-up for several weeks. 

DeWit is a businessman and was the chief financial officer of NASA from 2018 until earlier this year. His new role will require significant involvement in rally operations and campaign budgeting. 

The campaign denies that Glassner's reassignment is the result of his performance organizing the Tulsa rally, which is essentially being viewed as a failure due to the smaller-than-expected crowd size at the event.

Campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh said of Glassner, "He is one of the founding members of Team Trump and his dedication to the success of the President is unmatched." 

The president's top advisers and campaign staff are now brainstorming ways to move forward with Trump's signature rallies during the age of coronavirus.
