Former President Trump on Tuesday night applauded Harriet Hageman's victory in the Wyoming GOP House primary.

"Congratulations to Harriet Hageman on her great and very decisive win," Trump posted on his social media site Truth about his preferred candidate in the race. "This is a wonderful result for America, and a complete rebuke of the Unselect Committee of political Hacks and Thugs. Liz Cheney should be ashamed of herself."

The Associated Press called the race for Hageman at about 10:20 p.m. Hageman had 65% of the vote, compared to 31% for Cheney, with 67% of the votes counted, the wire service reported shortly before midnight.

Hageman will face Democrat Lynnette Grey Bull in the general election, for the state's only congressional seat. Hageman is expected to win, considering Wyoming is considered one of the most conservative states in the country.

Trump in his post also wrote that Cheney can "finally disappear into the depths of oblivion."
